For more than 18 years Canditfrucht has been using exclusively American-made machinery, called BOE (Brown Oil Extractor), for the cold extraction of citrus essential oils.
The extraction process starts with the washing and careful selection of the citrus fruits which will then be conveyed on conveyor belts that will transport them to the BOE.
BOE is a machine which contains over 3 million razor sharp steel points placed on shafts that rotate one clockwise and the other counterclockwise and which are soaked in water.
This mechanism allows the citrus fruit to rotate around its entire circumference, remaining in place for a variable period and where the tips gently pierce the citrus peels and the essential oil that comes out is mixed with water.
The citrus fruits are then pushed forward by other citrus fruits which will then go to the extractors for the juices. The essential oil mixed with water is then sent through steel channels to the centrifuges that separate the water, which will be sent back into circulation in the BOE, from the essential oil which will instead be drummed.
